Ansteorra Stables
Tennessee Walking Horses

Ansteorra trainers accept a limited number of gaited horses per month to ensure that each horse receives as much attention as possible. We use only natural horsemanship methods, which focus on partnership with the horse rather than domination and intimidation. The horse learns to respect, not fear his handler. In accordance with the Horse Protection Act and our own ethics, absolutely no soring is utilized or tolerated. We also avoid pads, stacks, and pressure shoeing of any kind.

Training is $500 per month and includes board at our barn near Tomball/Magnolia. We have two large pastures for turnout and feed quality fertilized coastal hay and a proprietary blend of 12 to 14 percent pellets. Owners are required to provide any supplements. We can also work with you and your horse at your home or boarding stable. Training at your location begins at $350 per month plus 50 cents per mile to cover fuel and travel time. We offer discounts for multiple horses at one facility or to owners bringing more than one horse for training each month. Trainers are additionally available for one-time consultation to address a specific problem with horse and rider or to provide a refresher course once monthly training is complete. The cost for this service is $50 per hour, plus 50 cents per mile if we travel to your location.

Training programs include:

- For the foal: handling, haltering, leading, grooming, standing for farrier, parking out
- For the weanling/yearling: beginning round pen work, ground work, desensitization
- For ages 2-3 and up: saddle training for green horses as well as teaching or improving the skills above
- For spooks: acclimating to various footing, sounds, movements, and objects found on the trail or   outside the arena
- For show horses: proper ring etiquette, improved and consistent gaits, backing, holding position with proper saddleseat or western tack
- For "problem horses": reteaching and filling in gaps in training; working with owner to build trust on the ground and in the saddle

Owners are encourage to observe training as they are able and to ask questions. Our goal is to teach not only the horse, but the team of horse and rider. To that end, a one-hour "finale" is included with each month of training, in which we review the progress that has been made and explain the methods used so that the owner can utilize the same aids, cues, and procedures to achieve outstanding results. This process eliminates the common problem of a horse performing as desired for the trainer but not for the owner and also helps cut down on training costs. Get the most out of working alongside a professional trainer with Ansteorra.
